Kirkland Veterinary Staff

Outstanding Veterinary Support for Your Pet

kirkland veterinaryTheresa Simer

Theresa, a Critter Doctor employee for the last 18 years, is a native of Ellensburg, Washington and has lived in the Seattle Area for most of her adult life. She married her high school sweetheart, Roy, and they have 2 grown boys, one dog and a cockatiel. Pictured here with one of our many cute patients, she is not only a great veterinary assistant but also our in-house Martha Stewart, coming up with creative ideas to brighten up our hospital, inside and out, and in a very un-Martha-Stewart-like way, finding ways to turn those ideas into reality on a limited budget.

kirkland veterinary staffKim Aldridge

Though born in Seattle, Kim spent her early years in Illinois, before returning to Seattle with her family as a teenager. She got her start in veterinary medicine in 1998 as a receptionist in a small vet clinic in Issaquah. But it was a long commute from her home in Seattle to the Issaquah, so when the clinic across the street from her home lost an employee, Kim applied to replace her. Within a few years she became the office manager and ran the place for 15 years, becoming a certified small animal massage therapist in her "spare" time. Read below to see why we put "spare" in quotes.

She joined the Critter Doctor team in 2015 and has become one of our key employees. She is kept very busy by her husband (a sommelier — wine guy — for a local company), three manic children, Taylor (10), Payton (6), and Bryce (5), her 3 dogs, and her daily work-out routine. (She goes to the club at 4:30 am before coming to her day job with us! She has graciously invited us to join her. We have graciously told her we will not be participating in any of those classes.) After a long day at the clinic, she then trundles home to feed the family and get everyone to bed.

But she always shows up to work with a spring in her step and a smile on her face.

In her "additional spare" time she like to hike or read a book.

kirkland veterinary staffSarah McElrath

A 5th generation native Seattleite, Sarah loves to be kept busy, and we're happy to accommodate her. She is great with clients and animals alike and puts everyone at ease. She likes being active and keeps up with soccer, the sport she took up when she was 9 years old, playing twice a week in two adult leagues while also working part-time at a local gymnastics club, where most of her daughters (there are 4) were or are gymnasts. One of them, Katheryn, now instructs at the same club.

One of our employees said of Sarah, "If I was going to take over the world, I would want Sarah on my team. She can find anyone and anything you need. She is a networker extraordinaire."

Sarah, her husband Charlie, her four girls (her son, Charles is currently in the armed forces in Kosovo) and her menagerie of pets (Harley, her Beagle mix, Bandit her old terrier mix, and Fuzz, her domestic long-hair "Mitt-kitty"--Did I mention the 8 chickens?) all live on the outskirts of Woodinville.

kirkland veterinaryMark Roberts

Mark Roberts, shown here with Canine Reahab patient, Juno, hales from a small town near Camden, NJ. After graduating high school, he attended New Mexico State University, where he completed double majors in psychology and biology.

After a brief tour of duty in the U.S. Armed forces, he returned to the East coast, where he worked in several different veterinary clinics before returning to school in Colorado to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT). While in Colorado he also worked for the Health Sciences Center at the University of Colorado as a research assistant. After years working in clinics from Florida to Colorado to New Mexico, he decided he wanted to see what the West coast was all about and made his way to Seattle and eventually Critter Doctor.

His passions outside of work in include chess, cycling and beer, probably not in that order. He's been known to play ten games of chess simultaneously on the web and finds it relaxing. Who knew chess could be relaxing!

kirkland veterinaryTaylor Bobrich

One of our latest additions the Critter Doctor staff, Taylor has just received her degree as a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) and has already become a valuable asset to the team. In addition to her training as a tech, she brings with her experience in both fisheries and wildlife, and has been actively involved in wildlife rehabilitation for several years. She's been caring for animals since she was very young and loves the positive impact she has on the well being of the critters she cares for.

But she does not limit herself to just four-legged pets. She also owns 2 parrots, one named Archer, the other Miika. They are rambunctious and very entertaining, and bring joy to their owner. Taylor loves the outdoors and enjoys hiking, swimming, traveling and crafts, such as crocheting.
